This exhibition opened October 14th, 2011 and was the Autry Museum’s contribution to the Getty-sponsored Pacific Standard Time exhibitions focusing on the birth of the Los Angeles art scene and taking place at over 60 cultural institutions across Southern California. I was tasked with designing exhibition cases for housing the ceramic and bronze works of artist Dora De Larios. I created a topological landscape for display of cherry and birch promoting circumambulation of the casework ‘islands’ and creating an experience of sculpture viewing in the round. I created construction drawings as well as multiple mock-up sessions and construction coordination. In addition, I provided material specifications, visualization services and drawing support for the entire exhibition. Travelling considerations as well as reuse and adaptation were carefully considered resulting in details such as magnetic removable panels for pallet jack access and use of a re-configurable pedestal grid system. This casework has now become an Autry Museum standard.
