Summerour Prize, Award

Established by 1986 Architecture graduate Keith Summerour, the Summerour Prize recognizes rising fifth year architecture students based on their accumulated work in the program with a special emphasis on presentation skills. Henry Savoie and Eilís Finnegan were the dual inaugural recipients.

Rural Studio Chair Competition, 1st Place

Fabricated at the Rural Studio woodshop in collaboration with Kyra Stark, the Frei Egidio Chair is an interpretation of an original design by Lina Bo Bardi. Following a month of research, the fabrication process was proposed through storyboards, finalized in 1:1 scale watercolor drawings, and recorded through photographs. The work on the final chair was divided between both team members, and was crafted, finished, and assembled in the Rural Studio wood shop. The Frei Egidio Chair won the biannual Rural Studio wood-shop chair competition, which considers process, documentation, drawings, function, and finish.


Rural Studio Sketchbook Competition, 1st Place

Awarded each semester to the student with the best sketchbook kept during their tenure at Rural Studio. The winner is selected based on the accuracy, artistry, and composition of their sketches.


APLA Writing Award, Award

Awarded to to one student from the Auburn University School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture for the best paper of the year.

National Merit Scholarship Award, Scholarship

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Approximately 1.6 million high school students enter the program each year. 7,600 Finalists are selected to receive a Merit Scholarship award.
