LUMCON Blueworks is the dynamic creation of the science researchers and educators who will soon call it home. As a new “outpost” for a group of scientists who currently live and work beyond the levee system in marshlands of the Gulf of Mexico, this new science center will connect them more directly to local schools, local universities, and a wide range of outreach opportunities. Their goal was to be eye-catching, energetic, playful, and educational.

In my role as Project Architect, I led a team of designers through concept development, building planning, envelope and interior design, and the early phases of construction administration. Complex needs with limited budget produced a creative set of solutions for this state-funded project. The project broke ground in early 2021 and will soon be the new home for this team of scientists.
