The purpose of the project was to perform an architectural design for the renovation of an existing facility. Served as project design manager. Project was intended for the conceptual design development of a New Annex Office proposal, at existing building 183 Ft. Buchanan Chapel, since the Chaplain and his assistant didn't have an office space near the chapel. Also needed space for counseling. Site measuring and documentation were performed for more precise accuracy. Advanced use of skills in the utilization of computer-aided design and drafting (AutoCAD (CADD) and Revit (BIM)) system and design industry computer software were crucial to fully develop the proposed concept design. A full 3D model of the Chapel’s existing conditions was prepared for better space representation. The conceptual design development required creativity and proficient architectural knowledge to be able to make an appropriate architectural communication between the existing structure and the Annex space. It was important to properly merge both activities without compromising the existing architectural richness of the Chapel. Project included three different proposals with floor plans, sections, elevations, 3D modeling and photorealistic render visualization. The use of natural lighting was considered for this particular space. Also, government independent estimates and brief description of the works to be performed were provided to higher level management. As mentioned, project was created in Autodesk Revit software which was adopted as a new tool for future architectural designs.
