Thaxton Office

This office building, a renovation to an owner-ccupied building, engages the community with a dynamic street presence and the bones of the building for sustainability.  Located on a busy thoroughfare, this renovation activates the exterior presence of the building with glazing to connect it with the neighborhood.  Each office has a window that is shaped to direct views back to the street, strengthening the connection to the neighborhood from the perspective of the building inhabitants, as well.  The dynamic, protruding windows are related to the movement of traffic, while at night, the linear LED lights on the façade evoke lights of the cars passing by.  Revising a darker and more closed off façade, this renovation creates a new landmark of the community that is open, progressive, and lively.
