TRANS URBAN _CULTURE OF LIVING 2050_ INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The territories outside the city walls, drained from the swamp, were given to the soldiers so they could guard the commercial routes to the cities. These diamond-shaped lots of land were characterized by traditional residential buildings: i CASSERI. These typical houses were built next to each other, about 4 meters wide, made with clay bricks. Cassero has two blind sides and two rooms on each storey, facing the street on one end and the courtyard on the other one. The residential building  works as a FILTER between Piazza Cortvecchia and  Via Garibaldi.  It will host the following kinds of services: food courts, commercial/retail areas, cultural areas,  exhibition areas and exchange forums. The new pedestrian platform is meant to become a new hub in the city centre, a sort of new city gate where you can leave the car, rent a bike and enjoy the city, or just ask some information about services and events.
