I have a question about the Diploma programs in the UK. I have a B.Arch from a US school (5 years). Would it (not) make sense for me to apply and attend a Diploma program in the UK? I'm asking only because the structure there is 3 years + 2 of Diploma, where I've already had 5 years of education... Will it be at all like a M.Arch?
Is the B.Arch you have from an accredited American university? If so, then you can apply to any M.Arch program. Why would you even ask if a diploma program is the same thing as a masters?
when i was looking into process to get license in UK it was possible to take the 4 year undergrad arch. course and 2 year m.arch course and get part II license. after that had to study for awhile and take part III exams. it cost like 1500 pounds or so.
the argument as explained to me by ARB was that they require 5 years full time architecture education from an accredited school. There was a website (possibly on ARB's site) that listed which schools they had decided were accredited too.
not sure what is going on now. i hear the govt in UK has just changed law so that archi offices can't hire non euro staff except at high end...perhaps similar protectionist actions are going on in ARB. definitely give them a shout, they are generally helpful...

b.arch -> (uk) diploma?

Most schools have transitioned to the 3 + 2 system from a 5 year B.Arch, so your degree should be the equivalent of what is now a M.Arch.
For information on getting your education recognized in the UK, check out the RIBA and ARB websites
