I am considering attending LTU's MArch program this fall. I haven't seen any communication about LTU in this forum, so if anyone can provide any insight on their program and the university it would be helpful to me!
I've worked with a few LTU grads - back in the day they graduated some of the best project managers/technical people in the Detroit area - I wouldn't say they're highly regarded in terms of design, but I really liked the people who went to that program.
I'm about to graduate towards the end of the summer and have no complaints. It seems that most students also have an undergrad from LTU. The school has more of a technical focus than others, but there are a range of studio prof.
The Master's class in particular will rock your world.
shuellmi - I understand housing is limited at LTU...is there nearby off campus apartments available? Also how is the surrounding areas for shopping and dining?
Housing is very limited and the university is basically in a giant office park so no real nearby apartments as people typically understand student housing. Surrounding areas for shopping and dining are extremely poor and a car is 100% a requirement for an LTU student. This is the most utterly suburban environment that can possibly be imagined.
I found the school to be good and with above average technical focus and average design depending on who your professors are. but I attended undergrad and went somewhere else for grad so can't speak to the MArch. What I do know is that the school is very well regarded in michigan but once you get out of state even within the great lakes region no one will have heard of it at all.
Like any city there is plenty of housing, but "student" housing is basically for undergrads. Southfield is one of thefirst outer ring cities from detroit and not doing well. If you have a car this is not a problem, but i would not attend w/o one. Shopping and dining in the immediate area is very poor just aslegend says. cant compare the metro area to other cities.
Aren't they the only program in the country that offers an online March degree? I've looked into it, still might do it or knock out a few classes. It's just very pricey.
Lawrence Tech University?
