MArch Transfer???!!!

zinkplus

HEY YALL

Are there any MArch students out here who have, during their studies, transfered to a different school?

As a first-time applicant I acted a little bit over-confidently and only applied to my first choice school (top school) and another (not so top) school in the same city as bakup.

Now that I got rejected from my first choice - my bakup leaves me with little option and I feel there were a whole array of good schools - better than my bakup - on the east and west coasts that I would have been admitted to had I applied.

My TAs advised me to jump on the scholarship the bakup school is offering and try to pull a transfer - saying its common practice - rather than wait it out for the next round of admissions.

I've made a couple calls to different schools and it doesnt sound favorably with admissions telling me that they would consider everybody as an entry student who might or might not be granted some credit.

Is it logistically possible to transfer after your first year in MArch to a different school and pick up where you left off?

PEACE OUT

It is logistically possible to transfer, but most good schools want you to participate in the full indoctrination, which is to say that they grant little transfer credit when it comes to design studios. This is especially the case with masters programs.

yeah i would say at most, you will get to transfer maybe some very base courses

Studio courses, especially if you come from a non-architectural background, they most likely wont transfer over

Which isnt necessarily the end of the world, as you can get some base courses out of the way before transfering at least

If you have a decent scholarship offer, id say jump on it unless you somehow would have a job lined up for the next year before applying again
