Hi, I am currently an architecture student pursuing my B.Arch, and I am scheduled to graduate in 2013. However, I am considering a study abroad program to fulfill Design Studio III over an upcoming summer to shorten my stay in college.
Ah, where to begin? A Google search results in approximately 800,000 answers, and I am not one to necessarily judge which is credible. Academic advisors seem less than interested and have encouraged me to complete my entire degree at my [their] university.
I have looked at the Danish Institute and it seems a viable option: seven weeks, design studio course, housing and small food stipend, all for 8K and 9 credits.
I am also considering a school in the US, but am still unaware of where to begin to find a school to attend for the summer. Does anyone know of a reputable summer design studio II, III, or IV in the US or otherwise?
Clemson has a "Fluid Campus", meaning they have programs running in Barcelona, Charleston, and I forget where in Italy all the time. With the exception of Charleston, I would look into this program.
Go to Europe. Anywhere in Europe. With any school. for as long as possible, but keep the cost in mind.
It’s hard to make a bad decision about where to study abroad. Every city has its own great story that it's dying to share with anyone that's interested.
You should check out ETH in Zurich. Someone did a school blog about their semester studying there. The school is great, I’m looking into their MAS programs.
