hi all,
i've searched for any previous post regarding this topic & can't find it, so i just went ahead created a new one. hope you don't mind.
i'm interested in applying to cooper union m.arch II 2011, but first wanted to check regarding the degree requirement.
it stated:
'The Master of Architecture II program is open to applicants who:
hold the degree of Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), the Master of Architecture I (M.Arch I)
or an equivalent degree from an international institution.'
now, does a bachelor's degree in architecture from southeast asia meets the degree requirement above? It is accredited by the country's accrediting agency, in case you're wondering. let me know if you'd like to know from which country specifically.
p.s i'm actually not a new member, for anonymity's sake i made a new username.
you have no idea how much your responses will be much appreciated :)
when we review international students, we have a subscription service which describes in detail the institution and the degree - equating all degrees to the same standard -
suggest you contact your school where you received your degree and ask them how it other schools would view it -
no degree is the same and uni's never take whatever award you gained as the same to the next lad
"...from a program accredited by the NAAB or equivalent accrediting agency in another country."
Step one would probably e to contact your school and ask them what info they have. If they are accredited by a local board, then you might go straight to Cooper with your question. Otherwise you can ask your school if they ever applied for "substantial equivalency" with the NAAB, which would make it valid for Cooper's purposes. If you can't get any info on accreditation from your school you could contact Cooper & NAAB to see if any other students from the same school have been granted equivalency. This might work better if you tak to someone at Cooper but I can't be sure of it. Good luck!
