so I got selected for an interview to the 3rd year visiting school at the AA. They said I should bring original drawings and additional work, but the thing is I don't have any of my original drawings (after first year at Tulane, hand drafting is not common), and much of my work is digital... very little sketching. If anyone else who has gone through the same process and could give me some advice, that'd be great-- i'm burning a hole in my pocket to travel to London for the interview, so I hope I can get a spot!
my documentation process is pretty poor-- i have some sketches from 1st-3rd year, but they're so rough I feel odd putting them in my presentation. I have diagrams (mostly made in rhino/illustrator), but they're all presentation quality.
I have some paintings here and there (12" x 12" site paintings at 1' = 1" scale), but these are from first year.
you know how to talk about your work. Your confidence in your process is more important than the medium in which it's created. Just put together a competent and comprehensive amount of material that demonstrates you have the skills to hack it. Good luck. Oh and mention that you like robots made with Arduino.
"Original" just means they want to see them at full size - not the A3 scans in a book. (Doesn't matter if its digital/handrawn) Obviously most are digital. Same with process drawings.
AA interview
hi all,
so I got selected for an interview to the 3rd year visiting school at the AA. They said I should bring original drawings and additional work, but the thing is I don't have any of my original drawings (after first year at Tulane, hand drafting is not common), and much of my work is digital... very little sketching. If anyone else who has gone through the same process and could give me some advice, that'd be great-- i'm burning a hole in my pocket to travel to London for the interview, so I hope I can get a spot!
thanks
you don't have any original process drawings, sketches, art, etc? Hand drafting isn't common anymore, but hand process is still common.

Ah I see. So would it be appropriate to come in with a projected keynote presentation and original sized work samples? How should I dress?
Ohhh, my apologies, I thought this was the AA post regarding "Addicted Alcoholics"
