Wanted to see if anyone is making a similar decision between these two schools...
My two top picks right now are UBC and UW. I live in Seattle and have not heard nearly as much about UBC's reputation...some architects I have ran into have even asked if UBC has architecture.
Both of the programs have PROs to me and I love the location in the Northwest, the regional modernism vibes, focus on craft, urban planning and the elective landscape architecture classes, and great profs. I am interested in doing a fair amount of digital work (not just hand drawing) and I have heard UW does not really offer a whole lot of this. On the other hand, I hear that if I am looking to work eventually in Seattle -- UW is very well connected to its city.
hmm, well I never applied to UW, but I didn't just accept and offer of admission to UBC's M.Arch. So I can't compare the two, but it's funny in the states they ask if UBC even has architecture, because I believe it's probably the best, or at least top 3 in Canada. I chose it because of their environmental/sustainability agenda, landscape connections (I got into the MLA as well), the location (!!!), and money. I've heard a lot of American students go there too.
depends on who you talk to, i've heard good stuff from UBC, but in general i think united states americans don't think very highly of canadian americans. unfortunately.
a lot of things are changing at UW, and there have been fantastic new hires, Kimo Griggs (kimogriggs.com) came here 2 years ago. but yes, in general UW does not have strong foundation in digital work. but i'd say the tides are turning.
Anyone Deciding between UW and UBC MArch 3+?

Can anyone relate, or offer advice?

Both are good schools, they each have strong ties to their cities...
