I have just discovered that USC has extended their admissions for the M.Arch program. What will that do for the rest of us that were smart enough to get our stuff in on time? I guess I should just count this one off my list....
From their website:
Special Note For Master of Architecture Applicants: There is an extended deadline for general consideration for this particular program until April 23, 2010 for both the post-professional and the +2 degree programs.
Yeah I saw this, it confused me. I don't understand if people can still apply or if it just means that they are taking that long to make their decision.
ha, that's a thought. i wouldn't put it past USC to want to get more money from our application processing. Winston, what other 2 things are you laughing about?
This means that they didn't get enough high-quality applications for a full class this year. (Not that they didn't get any, just that they didn't get enough.)
just called again, inquiring about the April 23rd deadline. It was posted mid last week, and it's for people who maybe didn't get their GRE in on time, or portfolio. He didn't anticipated there being much aid/scholarships left for those who apply during this extra time.
For those who submitted by Jan 15th, they will be notified this week and next week by postal mail.
or maybe it means that people are finally listening to the rants on archinect about there being too many architects in the profession, and they are helping us out by not applying?
All joking aside, that is kind of weird they are delaying everyone's notice because of people not getting their stuff in on time. If i were someone who applied and got my stuff in on time, i would be pretty pissed if i found out they extended the deadline for those who are late.
Hey guys, I have no idea what's going on specifically but when I was there last year, I know they were trying hard to grow the program and trying to figure out just how many students they could take. It's possible that they realized they could take more and extended the deadline accordingly? I don't want to speculate but it may not be the worst case scenario...
...Or maybe that thing about 60% unemployment has really started to stick. :o/

i verified with them by phone on Friday, they said all would be notified by April 1st, i'm tempted to call them again for clarification.
...gee ...could it be that no one wants to apply to a defunct profession where an MArch makes 35K and unemployment is 60%?
Naaaahhhh that would be cynical of me wouldn't it?
This makes the third thing I am laughing about tonight!
