Is 1 year m.arch II (postprofessional) degree worth it?

cipyboy

... and so I just got admitted to take M.Arch (Postprofessional) degree in SCAD. This is for me to at least be productive in beefing up my credentials. I'll do take the LEED exams and learn new software in addition to what I already know.
The question is. Does taking a 1 year postprofessional M.Arch degree make a significance and make me more competitive? I was also given some Honors grant amounting to more or less 8kusd by the school annually.

I'm hoping it's worth it. I'm looking at UD programs but still post-prof. The grants could make or break the decision for ya. I don't honestly know how much it would beef up your credentials....I think it's more about how many new skills you would become familiar with and how many contacts (job opportunities) you could make there.

good luck

Say No to Student Loans

I have to say, it would make the resume look pretty interesting/dynamic to see 3 schools up top- considering your undergraduate, graduate and post-professional degrees were from different schools..

sublime - i did it primarily so that i'd have the option to teach at some point. which i have and which is pretty much the 'entry level' degree needed to teach anymore.

i don't think it will have any bearing in the immediate job market (unless it gets your foot in the door somewhere), but what it should help to do later on is open up more doors of opportunity, if you know how to take advantage of them.

one year isn't as bad in terms of money, time, etc. to commit, especially if you have a grant.

finally, a lot depends on the school itself - i'm assuming you're going to the scad campus in savannah. while that has some cache around the south, it's not going to translate (as a value equation) as well outside the region.
