Visiting Critics Studio?
Well, I am a high school student who is making a college decision for B. Arch program! It looks like I am going to USC for now (other choices being CMU and Syracuse), yet I was wondering about one thing before deciding for final.
According to its students and website, Syracuse has many visiting critics who are "nationally recognized". My question is: Does having different visiting critics help you in broadening your perspective and knowledge? Will it help directly/indirectly with my profession in the future?
It might be a silly question, but if you have any idea about this, please share! I know college decision is not the most important thing that will happen in my life, but I want to make a well-informed decision.

To make your decision, you should determine your criteria -- what is important? Is it location, degree program, facilities, etc.
Certainly receiving criticism on your design work from a variety of individuals - faculty, fellow students, visiting critics, etc. As you suggest, it will broaden your own design skills, but I would cautious you in making your final decision on this criteria alone. How does Syracuse utilize these critics. At what point do you as a student interact? Contact them and find out.
Up until this point in your life, it is the most important decision and being well informed is admirable.

^What he said. Look into the broader aspects of the programs as well. Many schools have illustrious "visiting critics." Check into things like student-faculty ratio, design pedagogy, facilities and internship requirements. When I was looking at schools it came down to a choice between CUA (Catholic University) and NJIT. I picked NJIT because it was closer to home and had a far more developed technology requirement. Your choice should be based on a broad set of criteria, not just on a singular element. A great place to start is with our School Blog Project, I believe all the schools you mentioned have at least a few students writing blogs.
