congrats to everyone who has received positive news. i can't begin to describe how much i want to experience that feeling of relief right now. it's very hard to stay focused at work. speaking of that ...
@ sixtrain - working at a small office (20 people) in LA.
another question - for those of you who attended open houses in the fall, did you follow up with any of the faculty/students you met with? if so, do you think it would have impacted their review of your application?

Long time listener first time caller. So heres my situation:
ASU - IN
UVA - REJECTED
Rennsealear - ?
I got layed off late in '09, and scrambled to get my portfolio and everything together. (I did the whole thing, excluding GRE's, in a month!)
I would have applied to more schools but really was in a time crunch just to get those 3 out. I'm kind of wishing I could have made Yale or UPenn's deadline, just to take a chance.
Its kinda crazy that people who are getting into Yale and other good schools are getting waitlisted or rejected from UVA!
Anyways, I'm thinking ASU is my only option, considering that trying to find a job now in the Dallas market has been really really tough. There is a part of me that says "ivy league or bust," but I'm also thinking it won't look so good if I wait to reapply next year and have a big year long gap on my resume.
So, here is my portfolio. I couldn't get the formatting right, so some of the pages are actually a 2 page spread instead of on the same page.
i heard there was a shooting at OSU last night! speaking of them...
anyway back on topic... monkay/ey I don't know if I am going to ASU's open house yet! I probably won't decide until Monday. It's a long flight from Orlando to Phoenix.
And UVA seems to be the least predictable school; I only know of one person who received an acceptance last year... everyone else got rejected but ended up places like MIT or Columbia.
I just turned 25, undergrad art major, interned at a very small (3 people) arch firm for 2 summers, taught English in China for a year, now work as an environmental educator at a small nonprofit where I get to take birds of prey into schools. Honestly didn't start my applications (except for the GRE) until after Thanksgiving, but I'm a good procrastinator.

I have been obsessed with Grad Cafe but missing the Architecture-specific conversation-- happy to find Archinect!
I am 32 and applying to MArch I programs (better late than never!) I currently work in a nonprofit and have no architectural background aside from a life-long passion and several classes. I was an Art History undergrad.
The schools I have applied to:
CCA: Accepted
MIT: Assuming a decline (no phone call)
UT Austin: No word on website yet! Is anyone else still waiting?
Harvard
RISD
U of Washington
U of Oregon
UCLA
UC Berkeley
archschools.org has some numbers. i use my book Guide to Architecture Schools from 2003 for a rough estimate (they have stats in there); they have a new one on that site but I have no idea if acceptance rates are in them
Also if you dig around the university's websites you can find some stats on acceptances etc for each degree program. other than that i don't really trust any of the information google yeilds.
well according to ohio state's online application status check, i'm in at knowlton! haven't received an email or anything in the mail, just decided to check it on a whim after seeing everyone here receiving info about columbia.
2010 M.Arch applicants, commiserate here!

btw, yeahbaby, thanx for starting this "list of school" thing :)
I've applied to U of T as well. Hopefully we'll find out our admission results soon.
I'm 24, graduated two years ago and have been working at an Architecture firm in NYC since then.
Don't have an architecture background so will be doing the full 3+ years at school.

For those who got in to UVA, Yale, and the Ivies:
Would y'all mind sharing your portfolios? I'm curious to see what kind of caliber portfolio it takes to get into those places.
lidandan: Are you going to ASU's open house? I am. Hope to see you there.
Best of luck to all of you, its been fun reading this thread to pass the time!
Dang melany you must have quite the portfolio. I hope you share it, if only for a next year applicant's benefit.
I am 23 turning 24 soonish, graduated with my bachelors last may. working on a grad certificate in urban planning right now.
Also, snap! GSAPP is starting too? If only Penn could hurry it up!
When does OSU send out letters?
well looks like this is the week...best of luck to everyone!
i heard there was a shooting at OSU last night! speaking of them...

i was temporarily excited to see an acceptance on gradcafe for yale...but its for the M.Arch IIs
:(
so we think yales done?

Praxis - based on gradcafe I would bet the bulk of their acceptances are done
Also, does anyone know where to find reliable admissions statistics (especially acceptance rates)?
I have been obsessed with Grad Cafe but missing the Architecture-specific conversation-- happy to find Archinect!

Got a mail from GSAPP. rejected. hmm.
just got rejected from GSAPP
Rejected from GSAPP
same... oh well
so it is a good thing that I did not get an email from GSAPP?

got an email from gsapp ... rejected.
Hm, I got an email from GSAPP to check the online account, but I can't find a freaking decision! Where did you all see the decision?
oyyy.... just got an email from GSAPP. Scared to open it. Most definitely a rejection based off the reactions from everyone else who got one.
hi, just login to your application page and scroll to the bottom.
you don't really need to get the email to be able to check it.
i was rejected as well. :(
adrasteia,
scroll down to the bottom of the page.. you'll see the link saying 'Your application decision is now available online' there
adra- scroll down to the bottom. it should say, your decision is ready and there is a link below. link brings you to a letter.
+++++ IN AT COLUMBIA'S MSAAD +++++
and rejection confirmed... :P
congrats meta!
and yea sandiego.. is no news good news at this point with GSAPP?
rejected at gsapp... at least i'm in good company.
my first choice, thought i was going to get in... slightly heartbroken, i could use a win (or a drink) right about now
well according to ohio state's online application status check, i'm in at knowlton! haven't received an email or anything in the mail, just decided to check it on a whim after seeing everyone here receiving info about columbia.
Graduate from Auburn in 2007. Working in Nashville since then.
Applied for Urban Design/M.Arch w/ urban design focus at:
Washington Univ. St. Louis - Accepted
UVA - rejected
Cornell
Michigan
VaTech
Texas
LSU (safety (dance))
Applied for Sustainable Design Track M.Arch at:
Minnesota
Getting antsy! AutoCAD with crossed fingers is hard.
...Not even a wait-list GSAPP? (insert very depressed emoticon)
Ambrosia, make that drink 10 drinks.
Look at it this way, if we were rejected yesterday (Monday), it would have been a terribly crappy week for all of us
Hm, no email and seemingly no update on my gsapp page. is this a good sign?
villain, same situation with u now.
but looking at loads of gsapp rejection on thegradcafe,
I am afraid to check my email.
I'm not sure, villian. Maybe they just lost your application. let's hope not.
they're probably just running through the list and updating as they go.
GSAPP - REJECTED
rejected GSAAP. No shocker, was my reach. Still, tough way to start the flow of responses!
I dont know much, but no rejection right now cannot not be a not bad sign at this point. if you know what I mean.
Haha, ten drinks would certainly make me forget this terrible feeling (and possibly my own name)
I assumed acceptances came first, I was so excited to get that email... but so disappointed
wow those fifty million rejections sure do look depressing!
Hirano, I cant believe you were rejected from gsapp! oh well.. adv @ MIT is better, imo.
Waitlisted for the Masters of Urban and Environmental Planning at UVA...
I know its not an acceptance but it definitely brightened my day after two rejections...there is still hope.
"I dont know much, but no rejection right now cannot not be a not bad sign at this point. if you know what I mean."
I cannot even begin to understand that sentence lol
