wait a sec... you didn't even have to interview for the AA? I think I remember reading on their website that all applicants need to interview for admission to the school... thats even better news aguacate!
re: CUNY. I also applied and it seems like the admissions process there is weeks behind the others. They mentioned not notifying applicants until April 1.

re: CUNY. I also applied and it seems like the admissions process there is weeks behind the others. They mentioned not notifying applicants until April 1.
Oh wow...I bet thats right. She was super nice and said that I have a few weeks to get the missing piece to them because that is when they will send stuff over.
turtle, I've reread the generic email and the followup (Dear Applicant.... congratulations blah blah.... very competitive blah blah... large waitlist etc) and it mentions nothing about an interview. That's also surprising to me - I definitely wasn't looking forward to spending all that money. Apparently there's a personalized official letter on the way, so I'll let you know how it goes. Maybe they don't interview post-professional program applicants, in which case you'd be safe too!
Before we get inundated by decisions coming from multiple schools, I'd just like to take a moment to say that I really appreciate the insight, advice and support in this blog.
This is the first site to which I've ever posted comments and its been a really positive (albeit stressful) experience.
So thanks archinect users, you guys are pretty great!
I agree. The entire site was very helpful. I even figured out what kind of paper to use to print my portfolios at home from a thread posted in 2006.... The information here was invaluable. The most beneficial is definitely this year and last year's commiserate threads, of course.
Now I hope we all hear good decisions sooner rather than later!
Good idea, NYCBlues! I also want to praise fellow applicants and wise, experienced grad students for all the help and positive energy on this thread so far. Printing a portfolio, for a non-arch/art background applicant, is a lot trickier than I expected!
Lidandan, I also figured out which paper to use from the 2006 thread, hahaha. Epson Matte Heavyweight, right?
Good luck everyone, and try not to lose your mind waiting out the very last few days/weeks until we hear decisions.
Agreed...this is a helpful site. So do people think results will really start coming in the week after next?
All I have received is an email from one school I applied to asking me about my prereqs. I have a few to take for that school and on the application wrote that I planned on taking them this summer at a particular school. They wanted to know more about my plans. Not sure what else to say.
just wondering if anyone got any confirmation form UT austin about the completion of their application. I've heard nothing. I emailed them but no response. now im nervous.
andimdone - you wont receive confirmation. you should have received a letter with your login information to check your application though. from there, you can check online if your app is complete. good luck!
Since Monday I have been compulsively checking my email, refreshing TheGradCafe, praying that I get a call from UVa before I see people post about it... god I need a life... I really think I just need to get in somewhere, then I will settle down.
I wouldn't be so sure! I got into ASU last week but I am still compulsively checking everything on thegradcafe and my email and my spam folder (just in case) and here.... I don't think it will stop until I hear from every school I applied to ahhh
....recieved a small envelope in the mail, which I was sure was a rejection letter. But, what a nice suprise. I guess good things do come in small packages. Still waiting on UIUC, IIT, UCLA, Columbia, SCI-Arc and UMich.
wow soreall that's awesome. I shouldve applied there, alot of my professors from undergrad teach there now. I'm just afraid of the midwest after living there for four years. anyways, goodluck!
Hey Atty, if you don't mind sharing, which school was this that asked you about your prereqs? I'm also lacking prereqs for a few schools I applied to, but have heard zilch from them since I applied.
so random thought.....I was just thinking about the word "rejected" and to maybe preemptively lessen the blow of these responses....Or just to make fun of the fact that we actually call it rejected like when you ask someone out in 4th grade. So what are some alternative words we can use........hmmmmm
My heart skipped a few beats when I saw this just now. What a tease! I'm relieved though to know that they have everything. For those applying to SCI-Arc who haven't received this, there's a contact number below in case you want to call.
And Congrats to all who've started to receive notice! Still crossing my fingers for everyone else!

Am I right in thinking that who gets notified when is a little arbitrary? Why don't the schools tell everyone at the same time, especially if its via email? Can anyone enlighten me as to the process?
I think they notify first the strongest candidates, the ones who they certainly, want, and then they continue through the process with the maybes, and after that, they hope to have received enough acceptances of bids that they minimize the amount of students they put on the wait-list... this isn't definitely how it works, just how I perceive it
That does sound about right. I also think it depends on who does the notifications. Some the architecture departments notify you of their decision, others it has to go back through the graduate admissions for the university. Another factor is how they decide to notify you... email, phone, post...
so based on that sci-arc fin-aid email I just received, they've either had only 145 total applicants (unlikley) or they only sent it to certain folks..hm. they could've randomly split up the applicant field and charged a number of professors with emailing chunks of it out at a time, who knows. the only certainty is that I'm probably over thinking this.
Did anyone else apply to UPenn for the dual MArch/MCP? I noticed a few Master of City Planning acceptances on Grad Cafe from a few days ago. I was just curious if they notify for the dual degree acceptances at the same time [it was one application] or separately?
not sure, but along those lines: I've seen some GSAPP historic preservation acceptances on GradCafe, via the GSAPP site, and according to last year's #'s the March's and the HP's were notified on the same day. Wow, I really need a life.
peeps that applied to mit - are you able to check the status of your application/view checklist ?
it seems that princeton and mit use the same application system, i am able to 'View Application Checklist' for my princeton app but so far haven't heard anything from mit..
this whole process is killing me!! two more weeks...
2010 M.Arch applicants, commiserate here!

Someone posted results from Minnesota and Wisconsin and New Mexico on thegradcafe.com...

and speaking of texas... according to last year's dates, we could be heading any day...anyone else anxious?!
yes. I am.
if i didn't have a job and the ARE's to study for, i'd be an absolute wreck. of course, now that we're talking about it ...

Sorell congrats on UIC!
Where are you located??
Hey Atty, if you don't mind sharing, which school was this that asked you about your prereqs? I'm also lacking prereqs for a few schools I applied to, but have heard zilch from them since I applied.
mobility - Chicago....went to UIUC for my undergrad
Congrats on UIC, Sorell! I'm awaiting word from them myself :) I was there this past summer for their YArch program, and it was a great experience.

Lakewest-congrats on Austin!
Jizzy- it was Yale.
Congrats!

Does anybody know the phone number to GSAPP's financial aid office? I can't find it on their website...
Sorry, I meant admissions office NOT Financial Aid office
I saw the general number for GSAPP on the website ((212) 854-3414) maybe they can connect you to the admissions office.
so based on that sci-arc fin-aid email I just received, they've either had only 145 total applicants (unlikley) or they only sent it to certain folks..hm. they could've randomly split up the applicant field and charged a number of professors with emailing chunks of it out at a time, who knows. the only certainty is that I'm probably over thinking this.

Villian - Well, they have around 200 masters students so it's more likely they're just emailing chunks at a time.
gs11- probably at the same time when they decide for the architecture portion which is later than the city planning.
212.854.3414 that is the admissions office
peeps that applied to mit - are you able to check the status of your application/view checklist ?
it seems that princeton and mit use the same application system, i am able to 'View Application Checklist' for my princeton app but so far haven't heard anything from mit..
this whole process is killing me!! two more weeks...
I got the sci-arc financial aid email on Feb 17th - if that provides any perspective Villian.
...and there were 91 people on that email. Let's start adding them up!
I've got my tin-foil hat on right now..
Did anyone else get an interview at the AA [3rd/4th year "undergraduate"]?
praxis - you may want to give MIT a call. I got an email from them a while back that has a link which says I am complete.
