MBARCH - I am still waiting for the GSD and completely understand your predicament! I'm in at Cornell so far (out of 9 applied to schools, rejected from 4, and waiting on 4 schools)....its a great program and I'll be happy to go there but I understand the having nothing else to choose from. Keep your hopes up and maybe GSD will come through!
so i'm guessing info about sholarships/financial aid, etc. will be in the "complete packet of information" we receive later via snail mail? MORE WAITING!!?? Really, Penn?...REALLY?!
Thank you tzara... I feel silly not having posted here before. Your post makes me feel a lot better since I don't feel alone not only in not hearing yet but also in not feeling 100% in the mood to celebrate something as amazing as getting into a school like MIT (Cornell in your case). Keep updating as you hear back, I will too... hopefully with favorable results!
Here, here. I am fortunate (and thankful!) enough to get in to some great schools, but I cant even begin to compare/contrast without the financial info... why the online application process if we have to wait to receive everything by snail mail?

Thanks for the comments. The fleuron, hypercube, and the Kubo font were my own projects, which I did over fall 2009. The clock tower and the atomic orbital were LAIAD projects. I didn't include anything from M+M
hey thanks for the headsup soni. I'm finding it really hard to not just buy this ticket right now. I get more and more excited about Rice by the day. except the being in Texas part.. but I can let that slide.
@although: I'm not missing my letter on the website but I AM missing the snailmail/hardcopy letter with the financial aid offer. I spoke to admissions and they said to contact them by Wednesday if I haven't gotten it yet.
jesseseegers-
definitely inspirational! yours really caught my eye.... usually i just glance through ports b/c they're so packed full. Your bold and concise type really made me pause to understand each project. very impressive.
and you have NO Arch background??? these graphics looks professional!!
@ although. Yeah, the letter has disappeared off the webpage and I didn't receive any snail mail so I got a bit worried too. But got the letter in the post from the admissions department today, so no need to worry about the offer being rescinded-they must just take down the letter after a while. Still haven't received the snail mail copy of Stern's letter though...anyway, fortunately i'm in a similar position to you-Yale, Columbia and Penn all said yes. I reckon Yale wins for me, what about you?
@ thefridge: most schools have been careful enough to make sure to tell ppl that they offer "additional aid" to not to post anything about it on the internet...
...let's just say i have had personal experience with this situation and leave it at that...
ha, I think you're just going to have to wait it out. I'll be doing the same for MIT.. but wont be holding my breath. Rice likes to give alot of $$, so I imagine if you get off the waitlist they'll give you something at some point.
jesse_ dude! you are so accomplished. i think that not presenting your material in a way many others "say" one should works to your advantage. after all, with accomplishments like your, i'm not sure how important the layout really is. mad props!!! for keeping your art aesthetic intact and not trying to make your folio so architectural, although it is... just sort of inherently. you have one of the most distinct voices i've witness via portfolio. very cool.
pythagoras_ it's actually not a full ride. the fellowship berkeley offered me covers tuition + $10k stipend for the 2010-2011 academic year only. no guarantees beyond that. but hey, who's complaining. i'm a slightly peeved you would say i would do well in the corporate arch world since that's exactly what i don't want to do :] hmmm. i was an econ major and work as a project manager in the commercial furniture industry. believe it or not, i'm actually really bad with money, which is why, now that i have the opportunity to even bitch about it. i kinda am. i'll shut up about it though because i've made my decision and will be berkeley bound this fall. still waiting to hear from ucla, risd and sci-arc... should any of the three want me, i plan to kindly respond with no thanks :) what's the use in hogging up a spot. it's important for me to be conscientious, as much as possible.
hans_ which school are you going to pick? please say mit... or is harvard tempting you? are you in manila? i believe alli's back from new zealand soon. we should go to wurstkuche by sci-arc or something if you're in town. you're like a super star on this thread...nerd!

last friday, darren at mit sent me this:
I am truly sorry to inform you that we are not offering you admission to MIT in the Department of Architecture. The number of applicants for admission to the Graduate School greatly exceeds the number that can be accommodated and it has been necessary to refuse admission to some fine applicants.
We appreciate your interest in MIT and sincerely hope that you may be able to continue your studies elsewhere.

In @ penn, m.archII - alas, no fin aid info yet like every other school I applied to - makes the decision-making process near impossible...

Got into Penn M.Arch 1! Now I've got all my results and need to choose between Yale, Columbia, UCLA, Penn, and Cornell.
Anyone else missing the "official" Yale acceptance letter on their website? I'm worried they rescinded the offer...
If you call them, they may tell you how much fin. aid you were offered. They did that for me without my asking.
yeah I might do that.. I've been reluctant to because they didn't really reach out to me yet. guess it's time to man up!
Oh, and congrats on all the Penn acceptances!
@although: I'm not missing my letter on the website but I AM missing the snailmail/hardcopy letter with the financial aid offer. I spoke to admissions and they said to contact them by Wednesday if I haven't gotten it yet.
has anyone asked for more aid $$ and been successful?

UCLA?
they're really taking their time on this.

Rejected by UPenn, my 4th ivy league school rejection
@soni: glad I called.. Ms. Roberts told me I received 1/2 tuition waiver :). booking my flight now.
if you got into penn, columbia, and the gsd... where would you go?
Congrats, villain! That's awesome! See you at open house then!
dauben-
no word from UCLA, either... i just sent an email asking for an update.
villain- wanna ask ms. roberts about people getting off the waitlist and finaid? it'll sound better coming from you, since you're accepted :)
ha, I think you're just going to have to wait it out. I'll be doing the same for MIT.. but wont be holding my breath. Rice likes to give alot of $$, so I imagine if you get off the waitlist they'll give you something at some point.
Rejected from UPenn!
Not upset, wasn't going to go there anyway. It was just to see what would happen & because I already had 7 applications going what's one more!
mitboi: I think I'll just wait it out. I've pestered Lucy enough during this application process. Feel free to call yourself :P
Hi all, did anyone here who got into UCLA receive financial support, or know anyone who did?
@adrasteia
had the same question as you
all i received was an email with a merit award
but nothing based on financial need
which is what i was waiting for
