its nice hearing good news after sooo long

so i never received an email from MIT to confirm my application, but i called them and it turns out that they were missing my transcript and they never contacted me! so i ended up having to send it to them via email and apparently they are in the final stages of decision making and next week they'll be doing all the financial stuff for the people who are in.. so hopefully we'll hear back by the end of next week

which means! if i hadn't called them - then they wouldn't have even process my app! stressss!

praxis99- that happened to me too!
i saw that my transcript was missing at MIT on the personal link they sent me, so I overnighted the transcript. But then they lost it again, so I had to call and send them a scanned copy via email. Hadn't I checked the status/called, my transcript would have been missing!

Anyone know how to turn off the "notify me" if this is responded to feature? I didn't cheeck it for this post so I hope that works.

In the notification emails there is a section below the link that allows to to stopped being notified.

i am applying from paris so i am expecting results from schools that don't notify by email to reach me way later... :(

UT Austin!! Been on pins and needles for the last two weeks, refreshing Archinect/Grad Cafe at work like no other. Got the e-mail on my break in the middle of a 13-hour workday. Awesome.

nice 6train! UT is the first of my schools people are hearing about, and sadly, I'm not one of them. did they just email you? nice little pickmeup to your 13 hour day...man, where do you work with those hours!?

villain: I got the e-mail last night around 6:30 EST. then, I was at the Apple Store so after that every customer got an extra jolt of friendly customer service :P. I also work a full-time job at a construction spec firm (learning a lot, but oh man.. there's a reason why architects let firms like ours write the specifications. for example, I spend hours researching paint thicknesses)

This blog is one of many that keeps me sane at my 9-5.

oh boy. that job might seem tedious now, but I think it'll pay off for you in the long run (the const. spec one). I work at a small boutique firm, and while we may get to "design" alot, a technical knowledge of materials is something I wish I had. goodluck!

i'm under the impression they do e-mail as well as sent stuff via mail. So e-mail should hit you on the spot before you get to have an envelope.

I read last night in a Yale bulletin that apparently a few Ivy Leaguers ( names i remember: Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia...I'll try to find the exact link) have an agreement for sending stuff out on the same date. (beginning of April)

Now, i hope the April part is bogus, cuz it's too long of a boil to applicants. But yeah, other schools might coordinate as well.

Just got into the University of Houston via email. It is my safety but it feels good to know that I am going somewhere after striking out last year (0/4).

I got word my two safetys - Northeastern and IIT. Accepted to both. Still waiting on the 7 others out there. Austin and Parsons were both at the top of my list so I'm starting to get nervous.

Razvan: From the looks of gradcafe last year nobody starting hearing from the Ivys until after the 15th.

The speculation is killing me.

agreed, mountain boy... i think we need to hold our breath for the ivies until at least the 15th. im surprised that nobody has heard from UVA though - seemed like they sent out acceptances as early as late February last year....

I got word from UVA a few weeks ago about a reception for all admitted students. It said all responses will be sent out on the 13th.

I'm pretty sure that its the only school I can count on for a given date of response at this point.

I'm pretty sure it said "by the 15th" - unfortunately not as reliable as an exact day!

Also, Razvan, I would imagine that the majority of people who interact on this site have applied to at least one of the ivies you mentioned.

SCI-Arc reached out yesterday to make sure I had all the proper documentation into them for financial-aid processing... which I know doesn't mean anything, but it was nice nonetheless.

What about U Penn? I feel left out of the ivy talk.

I am pretty sure that timing for Penn is the same... mid-March. Another week or two!

I applied to Cornell and Columbia. I wish they would have just sent out the rejection emails like a month ago. Instead, my portfolio has probably been sitting in a dark room somewhere collecting dust or mold.

Grad Cafe shows that M.Arch applicants from Columbia/ Cornell are usually notified the second Thursday/ Friday of March which would be next week. Even if I get in to an Ivy, my decision is going to be based on cost/ financial aid, so it's nice to get in but not for 100k in loans.

and so yes, this calls for a lot of consistent updates of gradcafe, gmail and the mail box... i think next week could be it!

i called Princeton a few weeks (yes i applied despite the 6% acceptance rate...) back because according to their status page they haven't receive my GRE results and the lady was firm about the march 15th date they posted on their website which is nice to know..

kim, that's precisely how i feel. i didn't apply to any ivies, though wishing i would have applied to penn now that it's all said and done. (whoever mentioned applying to one school you thought was out of reach -- well that was penn for me! oh well.)

i have only received one notification: an acceptance by the university i received my undergraduate degree from. they're offering me a grad assistantship and will pay me a stipend to go there... now i'm going to have to stack any other acceptances and their costs vs. the idea of getting PAID to go to graduate school. and as much as i would like to explore a new program, i'm not willing to put myself into massive debt when i could emerge debt free.

i'm just hoping that i get some sort of financial incentives from other schools so i can weigh their options. still waiting on results for 6 more!

I'm applying from Israel, feel pretty much out of the loop.

My undergrad transcripts somehow didn't make it to any of my 3 schools. So I re-ordered them AGAIN, but still no word if they've arrived.

All your UCLA people got me so excited, I went to check my app status and apparently they haven't received ANTHING of mine, even GRE scores... seems hard to believe that NOTHING has been processed yet?

Anyone know if GSAPP will let you do a thesis?
