Do you wanna get into some minor trouble? live a little? See the police department at work? Read Karl Marx, Deleuze, Zijek? Start an affair with a schoolmate? Get a job at Fosters Freeze and make friends from the other side?
If you don't experience life why do architecture? Architecture is about life.
Anyway, do what you want. Do you wanna buy some used architecture books? You name it I have it.
I concur with liberty bell. Also, I'd wouldn't be so narrow minded about your political views at such a young age be it donkey or elephant. I would even contend that you don't know what you're even talking about at your age. It's really popular these days to wear your political views on your sleeve, go get a bumper sticker, even watch certain t.v. shows. Relax, It's cool to be ambitious and have some kind of idea about your interests. Just pump your brakes a little. Don't be afraid to step outside of the box that may be set up for you. I don't think it's a good thing when all your influences are similar as a child.(Which u still are by the way).
have you ever had a job? people dont just instantly get to be hedge fund managers or the like overnight, its not like you graduate and its handed to you, same thing with architecture. I think you probably havent had to experince this because like you said your family is wealthy and you have probably had everything handed to you. You can't just change schools or jobs when someone bullies you. Things dont come easily to most people, they have to work hard for it and they become better because of it. Before you can be at the top (working a lot @ 12hrs a week!! haha) you have to bust your ass working 60+ hours a week to prove your worth your salt and to learn the buisiness. This is true of all real world jobs.
did anyone ever figure out whether this kid's for real or not? as an agent provocateur it's a pretty fine play on the anonymity of cyberspace, not to mention amusing tricking of archinecters into political clashes. if it's actually serious then i second all the concerns expressed so far in this thread (except for those wherein the worry is whether to be able to be happy on just $50k a year).
there's nothing wrong whatsoever in making money, however there is something slightly worrying in having it as one's main goal. not to mention flying in the face of all those hard working upper, middle, working, whatever class-people that don't consider yale or any place an option due to family connections, but that actually will have to get in on their own merits.
anyway, you've already said it all in one way or other. we on the other side of the pond can only hope that you lot lean nowhere near right this fall. cause if you do we're all going to get it.
Yeah, seriously Legeuse, is this a freaking joke? Hey kid, if you are 13 or 14 and aren't even in high school yet, wait till you drink your first beer or smoke a joint and see how your outlook on life changes. Geez, enjoy your childhood man. (if you are in fact, a child.) I can't believe all you clowns on here are falling for this....
well, whether it is in fact a 14-year old conservative kid (now that's a word combo!) or a 28-year old left-wing practical joker he's done a pretty good job in stirring the pot here. he's making a fair amount of 20-and 30-somethings, most with one or more university degrees, work up a sweat over his future choices. wish i could have said or worn something in my early teens capable of keeping a whole bunch of grown-ups debating for weeks. maybe the grunge t-shirts just weren't upsetting enough..
by the way, he might be leaning right this november, but i'm leaning more and more towards the hoax-theory. even for such a
precocious kid i'm not sure if i buy the phrasings. "predominantly affluent". nah.

a bit late here i guess, but have to ask:

hahahahahaha...wonder if he still wants to be an investment banker now?!
no, kid, go into real estate and make a fortune, and please stay away from architecture.
