I will be finishing up a Bach. Environmental Design at Texas A&M University in the fall, and I have begun to look at options for grad school. Ultimately I would like to get licensed, but I am not yet sure as to what specific focus in architecture I want to pursue. And I know that most grad schools have a specific area of focus. As of right now I am interested in architecture and design initiatives that support amenity, sustainability, and cultural meaning in society. I also have a side interest in industrial design. And I know of a few architects that do alot of industrial design on the side when projects are scarce. Knowing that unemployment for architects has been quite high in the recent years, I am trying to ensure job stability through opening more doors to opportunity.
And so I was looking into concurrent degree programs at different schools, but am still unsure as to what would be the best option/combination, or even if a concurrent degree program is overcompensating. Is an M.ARCH degree sufficient?
Is there any advice or recommendations for good grad school programs? I would prefer a school on the west coast, but if the circumstances are better at an east coast school, then it wouldnt matter.
I have been looking into some schools inculding, UCLA, USC, SCIA, CALifornia college of arts, UC Berkely, University of Michigan, and Virginia Tech
any advice/comments would be helpful, thanks
