asu/umn for grad

varchitecture

Visited both and liked what I saw. Good balance between theory, design, fabrication and connections with local architecture community. Obviously entirely different places to live. ASU had a little more cross-departmental interaction and dual masters options, but not sure I am even going to go that route. Minneapolis seems like a great place to live for a few years, UMN is slightly cheaper, but probably higher rent etc.
Every school will have its disappointments and unexpected surprises. Anyone (grads or students) from either program care to share best parts/worst parts? I am curious about those things I might not consider when doing my comparisons but may become more of an issue/relief 2-3 yrs down the road.
Thanks for any input.

honestly... for ASU I would not bother with the dual degree programs. A lot of my friends have went that route and most of them regret it. Its either you want to be a architect a urban design, or a landscape architect. I cant see you practicing both. Sure they can influence you in your designs and what not, but its a waste of time and energy in my honest opinion. Doesn't mean it isn't good, but I knew I wouldn't have been interested. ASU is a good school for your M.Arch. I wish it had a more design build presence, but hey I guess you cant get everything you want in life.
