People die, it's always been that way. The idea that we are running out of important voices in Architecture is not true, and the onus is on you to seek out fresh important points of view. If everyone lived forever, stagnation would be the result, I imagine.

"Celebrity" as we know it really exploded in the middle of the 20th century. The contemporary pop culture didn't really exist in the way we currently know it until the 50s and 60s. The reason it seems like so many more famous / influential people are dying is because we're reaching the end of the first generation in which there were so many more famous people than ever before.
