Does anyone have experience negotiating with schools (specifically M.Arch I programs) for more financial aid? I've heard that you can sometimes play schools off of each other to get more, especially programs like Yale or the GSD, but I'm not sure quite how to go about it. Any advice would be appreciated!
I'm not sure about playing offers off one another. I have heard that just pisses financial aid offices off. But I would definetly call the financial aid offices and let them know you are surprises you didn't receive more assistance and want to check that all of your paperwork is complete and if there are any additional sources of aid that would be available to you. I got an extra 16k after finding out the GSD was missing a list of my assets (required for them but optional on the fafsa if they are below a certain amount). So it's definetly worth checking. Best of luck!

maybe people have had success in the past, but page 7 of gsd's financial aid handbook 2011-2012 reads:
"we do not compete with other schools' financial aid packages."
