I am looking for some good references on last century North American houses.
Particularly, apart from Usonian and Prairie, I am interested in the mid-century types, the backsplit/sidesplit, ranch and any others. I would like to see plan types, garage/living configurations, construction type and style features. Maybe some good contemporary examples.
Thank-you. I thought there might be some good almost "pattern" books? I always think of the case studies as more individual, wealthier client, things.
Actually I have discovered more examples in my own area than I thought there would be.
You might want to check this guy out. It is actually an interesting site to visit. I used to frequent the building his office was located in back in the 1970's...funny cause they are still at the same address. Thaat in itself is an accomplishment in Bean Town.

Perhaps less custom, and more..tract, Joseph Eichler? Maybe also a bit less sunny climate, more modest, but for the two words, thank-you!
what are you saying, you want mid century tract homes? cliff may did some (modest) tracts, too. don't forget cliff !!
for what do you want this info?
Doing some small residential projects and want to be informed about basic house types.
mckim mead and white did some houses though i dont think thats what your looking for. the plans are much more useful than one would imagine however.
do your residential projects have front doors? i only ask for precedent typologies.
Case Study program ? Indoor/outdoor living, whole-lot design, single-story family homes with carport or garage . . .

Cheers!
mostly for exterior style features (drawn elevations and perspectives, not many plans or interior views). Looks like it's only available used.

Look up Keck and Keck, from Chicago - some nice passive solar houses in addition to the exoskeleton house they did for the '30's world's fair.
