ArchiStudent

Hi,

I have been searching all over the internet/libraries/school libraries.. however, i haven't found information on Herzog & De Meuron: Dominus Winery Water drainage...

Does anyone know what books/sources contains this type of information?

Thank You for your help.

drums please, Fab?

you talkin' 'bout roof drainage?!?

el croquis 84 has wall sections showing the roof slope. the complete works volume 3 (1992-96) has the same wall sections (but too small to read) and a small photo of the roof.

how do you think they handle the drainage?

Yes, sorry correction Roof Drainage.

I have seen the wall sections however, all the books I have found never really dissect the drainage system...

From the wall sections, I'm thinking there is one vertical water pipe near the gabion wall. the roof is slightly sloped for the rainwater from the roof run onto the gabion wall. Now, I also know there are two additional pipes for rain drainage however, in the section it looks like it is releasing the water onto the gabion wall.. but I'm not too sure on that.

yeah, i think they're just letting the roof drain onto/into the stone wall

i believe in the section above the second floor is an exterior corridor .. you can see the floor drain just dumping into the stone wall.

since it's a double wall construction whatever water is in the stone part just slides down the 'real' wall all rainscreen stylee.

I'd say give the winery a call....1.707.944.8954. I was actually there last week to visit, but unfortunately, they were closed to visitors at the time due to the harvest season. They are very helpful on the phone and would probably be more than happy to help out with your inquiry (they get calls everyday about the architecture). They give architectural tours every couple weeks, so ask if you can speak to one of the tour guides, or perhaps, see if they have a book on their winery in the wine store and if it can be shipped. Good Luck.
