Our users provide an opportunity for the sharing of knowledge and intellectual work in the field of architecture through the publication of their work, either in its initial phases or already built. We provide a tool that boosts the publication and dissemination of intellectual work developed as the genesis of the architecture. We want to avoid the product of intellectual and artistic effort, which arises in its infancy in the schools of architecture, ending up in oblivion and isolation.
Ha, lletdownl, that was exactly what stuck out to me at first - I despise the use of the word "architect" as a verb, architecturing is even more awkward.
yeah... i think ive only heard that word in jest... when non architects ask me what im doing at work today... it normally goes a lil' something like this..
someone: So, what you up to at work today... architecturing?
me: Yes... exactly..... im architecturing...
I thought is was architecting. If you are a render whore it could be architexturing. But i guess alot of people are archi-nothing right now, so why not another archinetwork.
regarding the OT. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around this quote:
"We want to avoid the product of intellectual and artistic effort, which arises in its infancy in the schools of architecture, ending up in oblivion and isolation."
CAD, I'm assuming more elevations, section cuts and documentation... and less orgies of surprisingly ethnic entourages looking like 'serious business' in overtly atmospheric renderings.
But, I'm pretty sure this is a pitfall in information sharing since all of the good documents are legally unsharable while the eye candy is designed to be PR pieces.
AKA the reason it is next to impossible to find architectural and engineering diagrams of structural and envelope details on the internet that doesn't involve downloading a book or signing up for a special section.
Regarding the "Architecturing..." line, we will have a second thought on it.
About the other one, "We want to avoid the product ..." let me try to explain. During the school phase, architects develop a lot of interesting ideas that we think are very valuable. Very often, those ideas are not applied since the projects they develop after school in their atelier have a lot of restrictions that make that kind of “risk” ideas not feasible. The work done in the school phase that we think is very interesting can be uploaded in Arqlantia so that all users can exchange impressions and tips on how they did it...We are here referring to the work in the student phase but it is also applicable to many ideas that we have to discard when preparing projects, not because they are not valuable but because they don't fit the requirements or you have a too much and have to select just some.
In the end, our proposal is the sharing of information so that we architects can collaborate with each other by giving tips and comments (as you have done in this forum) since we think that sharing leads to learning.
We are a young social network starting and we appreciate all your comments that help us grow better.
We also encourage you to take a look at the page, participate and this way take part the learning. At school many times, we learn more from our class mates than from teachers, and this is what we want to promote in Arqlantia.

Sounds lofty enough...but what does it mean?
