Thin Roof/Light filter precedents

Hey everyone,

I'm currently working on a market for my studio project and tackling it from the vantage point of market as neighborhood/heart of the neighborhood. I currently have a set up of inhabitable trusses that house individual vendors (houses), larger objects that break the system (representing churches, schools, etc..) and the walkways/access ways (tree lined streets common throughout New Orleans) between. The last part will be represented by a light filter/thin roof with similar qualities to the oaks that like the streets of New Orleans and the dappled light that passes through them.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of some precedents for this sort of light filter/thin roof condition. I've looked the traditional souks in Marrakech as well as Foster's Aldar Central Market in Abu Dhabi but both deal with the condition in a very similar way (I believe for Aldar Foster fosterized the roof conditions of traditional souks).

If anyone can point me in the direction of these types of thin roof conditions specifically in the tropics/sub tropics (30 degrees north/30 degrees south latitude) I will be very grateful.

Thanks in advance,
Josh

Can't think of anything recent, but the first thing I thought of is Taliesin West by Wright in Scottsdale, Arizona.
