Mass Art M.Arch

modelcitizen

hello...

so i searched the threads and other than total confusion on mass arts NAAB candidacy status there hasnt been much discussion about this program. i guess that explains it...

but i was wondering if anyone out there is familiar with the program at all and also...what can you do with a M.Arch from a school that does not have NAAB status? How can they even offer a M.Arch if it isnt accredited?

anyone?

Have you been in touch with MassArt? If you review NAAB, you will learn that a program cannot become accredited until it graduates it first cohort of candidates. I would contact MassArt to learn when they will graduate their first cohort and have their initial accreditation visit.

Plus, NCARB has the following policy --

You must hold a professional degree in architecture from a program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) or the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) not later than two years after your graduation, or hold a professional degree in architecture, certified by the CACB, from a Canadian university.

Thus, if you attend MassArt now, your degree will qualify you for licensure.

The grad students from MassArt will be finished this Fall. With that, NAAB will make another visit and the school will become accredited.

This school is truly what you make of it. The professors are outstanding, and although they are all practicing architects, they are all incredibly dedicated.

I received my BFA in Architecture here and loved it. I transferred from Wentworth across the street and thought that program was awful.

Good luck with your choices!
