i'm missing something. 'sublime' doesn't suggest anything comic to me at all. not that comedy can't be present, but nothing about sublimity suggests that comedy is necessary.

May be this quote by a famous bavarian comedian helps:
"Every thing has three sides, a positive, a negative and a comical."
What will say, that the moment of the sublime let's us shiver, the comical moment reveals sometimes a truth of a higher level? Sodoes this happen in architecture?
What do you think?
i'm not sure that comedian's quote rings true for me, famous or not. sure, someone might find something comical in everything - especially if that someone happens to be a comedian - but that doesn't mean the comedy is inherent to the thing.

ps. i didnt meet him first hand but i know some people that did.

who would you define the sense of humor with in the work of SANAA?
I think if you regularly say things like "sublime" it's comical.
