 Four square shapes flow to the center to swirl, weave, and grip each other. Firmly holding on to form “GRIP” A sculptural, powerful , iconic object made out of solid bamboo using modern materials and techniques. A homage to the beauty and craftsmanship of traditional woodcarving. I translated traditional woodcarvings into the curling, waving shape,that also forms the construction that connects all four parts, and keeps them in place. Gentle Brutalism. The bamboo surface is sanded smooth to reveal the materials beautiful details. A natural oil-finish enhances the caramel color and structure.

Bamboo: A strong, highly sustainable ,flexible, beautiful and renewable material. Bamboo grows without the help of fertilizers. The bamboo tree is mature enough to be cut after three years. The trees are processed into the most environmentally sustainable wood on Earth.
