Soho Penthouse Duplex

After our firm converted this 6-story manufacturing building to lofts in Soho, we were hired to renovate the 3,300sf duplex penthouse including the design of a 2,500sf rooftop terrace.

In this simple, modern living room we designed a floating ceiling to add drama while the grasses in built-in planters outside masked views of the building’s rooftop to the rear. The stair in the center of the apartment creates a sculptural element tying the 2 floors and rooftop together, and custom lights were designed to “float” the entire height of the space, providing an added visual element to the space. A skylight and wall of glass were also created at the top of the stairs to bring more light down the stairwell to the lower floors.

Our firm also did the landscape design on the rooftop, integrating new structure that permitted the planting of (2) 40’ tall Pin Oak trees.
