The Lavendale Residence

The Lavendale Residence, is a 7,200-square-foot spec home in Dallas, Texas. The goal was to rethink the idea of a spec home by programming spaces by function: private, public, and semi-public. Each wing is also designed according to necessary privacy, light/views, function, and efficiency. The two-story private wing includes the master suite, guest bedroom, and three additional bedrooms. The pubic wing of the home is a great room, featuring living and dining space, and large windows and doors opening to the outdoor living area. The semi-public wing includes the kitchen, breakfast nook, laundry services, pool bath, and office. All three wings meet at a central intimate foyer, showcasing a “floating” staircase, museum art wall, and a Japanese maple garden. The courtyard features a ground-flush pool and spa and a limestone garden wall, which houses the home gym and garage, The exterior material selections are contextual and simple to blend into the traditional neighborhood. The interior finishes include museum finish walls, wide-plank white oak flooring, marble, quartzite, porcelain tile, and custom rift-cut cabinets.
