Jennifer Preston, LFA, LEED AP-BD+C
Jennifer’s design process weaves building science, material craft and proportional beauty. Her work is driven by an open-minded rigor, and a respect for nature; the result is lasting sanctuary.
Prior to forming SHELTER, Jennifer was a Senior Associate and Sustainable Design Director at BKSK Architects in New York City. She fostered multiple award-winning projects, garnering BKSK a coveted spot on the Architect 50 top sustainability firms in the country. Out of her work with BKSK arose a deep commitment to the Integrative Design Process and the development of The Laurentia Project, a series of slow food dinners which bring together creative minds in food, architecture, art, science, writing, and policy; asking that participants simultaneously talk and make toward actionable change in environmental design.
Pedro Marmolejos, RA
Pedro’s process recognizes that the successful implementation of any design intent is only as good as the drawings can communicate. His multi-scaled approach spans the spectrum of architectural practice by testing and exploring construction details at the earliest phases. The process is an iterative assessment of constructability, potential costs, and the long-term quality of the building.
Prior to forming SHELTER, Pedro was an Associate at BKSK Architects. Having managed diverse regulatory reviews for several NYC agencies, Pedro is at ease with complex projects and construction practices, and with navigating multiple stakeholders. His experience ranges from private homes and high-rise residential buildings, to high-profile public facilities. Pedro is a licensed architect in the states of New York and New Hampshire.
