Nicholas Melone, principal of Melone Architects, is a licensed architect with extensive experience in historic preservation projects. Nick has performed architectural surveys, inspections, and restoration projects on over 200 historic structures throughout the New York metropolitan area. Project types include cooperative apartment buildings, museums, churches, brownstones, and commercial institutions.
Along with his numerous restoration projects, Nick has had experience in a wide range of architectural design projects throughout the northeast, including new multiple family dwellings, single family homes, commercial structures, personal care facilities, and retail centers. Through restoration projects, Nick has gained knowledge of the ways in which building components deteriorate and fail; all new construction projects are approached with these lessons in mind.
Mr. Melone is a 1998 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He attended the Notre Dame Rome Studies Program in Rome, Italy in 1995-1996 and the Restore Program for Masonry Conservation in New York City in 1999-2000.
Early work in his family's architecture practice, with offices in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania since 1948, prepared Nick for a career in architecture. Prior to beginning his own practice, Mr. Melone worked for Walter B. Melvin Architects, a leading New York City restoration firm, for nearly 10 years.
