The title of our publication is Fresh MEAT, focusing on what is going on at the school each semester, and using the format of printed material to give a perspective on what is going on outside the walls of the UIC fortress.

We are also finishing up our website, and that can be checked out at the following address: www.freshmeatjournal.org link
https://archinect.com/blog/article/21452860/new-year New Year swamprat 2009-08-30T18:19:00-04:00 >2011-09-23T13:01:16-04:00
So another fall semester starts with optimistic views on both this semester and the year as a whole. It is the last year of my masters and classes and events planned for the year look like it will be a great way to go out. The lecture series promises to be just as great as the previous year (will update later with more detailed information).

The studio I am taking is with Robert McAnulty, and is focused on the recent competition that Diller and Scofidio won on the Copacabana site in Rio de Janeiro. Looks to be interesting.

That’s all I have for now. I will try to actually remember to update more than last year.

https://archinect.com/blog/article/21453031/hardest-or-maybe-the-simplest-question-to-ask Hardest or maybe the simplest question to ask swamprat 2009-04-23T01:49:01-04:00 >2018-01-30T06:16:04-05:00
What gets you up in the morning/everyday?
https://archinect.com/blog/article/21453021/unstudio UNStudio swamprat 2009-04-10T21:08:48-04:00 >2011-09-23T13:01:16-04:00
Ben van Berkel will be in Chicago at the School of Architecture @ UIC. As of now we are working in ten groups focusing on different areas of research. My group was in charge of building two site models. Sounds easy but we had no shop access. Besides Thursday's leaking building we didn't run into any trouble. This weekend we now have to take the research and create a RFP.

In theory class we are covering 10 contemporary architects and their legacies. What really makes this class interesting is that some of the father figures covered are lecturing here this quarter.

Theory seminar will be fun, its with Joe Rosa. It seems pretty laid back in the amount of work, but intense in information.

Design tech will be interesting. I guess they revamped the class for this year, and they are trying to link technical knowledge with...
