From the expansion of the 1970's Brutalist-style Lawrence Public Library to the renovations of New Orleans Public Libraries, the team at Gould Evans just added another prize-winning library project to their portfolio, the Olathe Indian Creek Public Library. </p>
<p>The building has received accolades like the Honor Award by AIA Kansas City for its concept of developing a hub for "community and content creation — instead of only content consumption." On November 4, it was announced that the firm received its 6th Chicago Athenaeum Award for the Kansas-based project. <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/934228/the-chicago-athenaeum" target="_blank">The institution's</a> American Architectural Awards program highlights new and "cutting-edge" design projects within the United States. </p>

<p>Organized by The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, the program celebrates the world’s best and most boundary-pushing buildings and urban planning projects. A shortlist of 400 projects had been selected from over 800 entries from 46 countries. </p>
<p>“These global awards show how well-considered, well-delivered, and well-performing architecture has the immense potential to improve lives and communities,” said The Chicago Athenaeum Museum President and CEO, Christian Narkiewicz-Laine. “We are very pleased to be able to celebrate some of the most innovative, ingenious and impactful architecture in the world—designed by some of the most talented architects of our time.”</p>

Calling Santiago Calatrava a "visionary theorist, philosopher and utopian and a true artist in the craft of engineering and architectonic expressionism" <a href="http://archinect.com/news/article/108886363/unc-coastal-studies-institute-wins-chicago-athenaeum-international-architecture-award" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Chicago Athenaeum</a> president Christian Narkiewicz-Laine went on to say that "it is significant that the European Prize for Architecture recognizes Mr. Calatrava as an architect, engineer, sculptor and painter." It brings attention to how good design can integrate beauty innovation and functionality to create a facility that serves as an important resource for Eastern North Carolina.”</p></em><br /><br /><p>The UNC Coastal Studies Institute Research Building has been awarded the International Architecture Award for Best New Global Design (2014) by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Architects Clark Nexsen and Associate Architects Cahoon & Kasten have been honored by the Chicago Athenaeum for best new global design of the facility in Eastern North Carolina. The annual International Architectural Awards program is among the most prestigious building awards program honoring new and cutting-edge design.</p>
<p>This year, the Museum received a record number of projects for new buildings, landscape architecture, and urban planning projects from around the globe.
