<p>The 18-month <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/312/fellowship" target="_blank">fellowship</a>, based in Detroit, calls for “young designers who are eager to gain experience in public interest design.” Among the responsibilities for the role are collaborating with the center’s wider team and partners on community engagement, design development, and project deliverables, as well as attending conferences and participating in training from senior mentors.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://archinect.com/pratt" target="_blank">Pratt Institute’s</a> initiative, titled the <a href="https://news.pratt.edu/article/diamonstein-spielvogel-fellowship-will-bolster-climate-change-study/" target="_blank">Diamonstein-Spielvogel Fellowship program</a>, will focus on students from underserved communities whose work concentrates on issues related to <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/167905/climate-change" target="_blank">climate change</a>. The fellowship will be awarded to two students for the first year of graduate study at Pratt; one in the School of Architecture and one in the School of Design.

Nevertheless, architecture schools learned as much as they could in 2020 to help students and faculty adapt and persevere. </p>
<p>While 2021 proved to be another year filled with challenges for the architecture industry, architectural academia also experienced its fair share of events. From the announcement of architecture <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/106082/dean" target="_blank">deans</a> leaving to <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/278638/appointments" target="_blank">new academic leaders emerging</a>, we must not forget the students and architecture fellows who continued to work hard and keep going. </p>
<p>This year, remote learning, virtual studio crits, and graduations were also met with some in-person learning through hybrid teaching approaches. However, despite the continued obstacles, undergraduate, graduate, and <a href="https://archinect.com/features/article/150257282/how-to-get-a-phd-in-architecture" target="_blank">Ph.D. students</a> across the globe continued to learn, explore, and propel the future of architecture and design forward....</p>

Now in its third iteration, NOMA announces 24 architecture students who will be part of the 2021 summer cohort for the <a href="https://www.noma.net/noma-foundation-fellowship/" target="_blank">NOMA Foundation Fellowship (NFF)</a>.</p>
<p>This two-month research fellowship will take place in person and virtually at 19 leading U.S.-based architecture firms. NOMA shares: "The NFF 2021 cohort will engage in design research and benefit from firm mentorship." In addition, NOMA has worked hard in building partnerships with various architecture firms that have collaborated with the NFF to provide professional experience to underrepresented students. This fellowship allows students to connect with the profession by establishing a pipeline for eventual employment once the fellowship ends. </p>

<p>The Steven Myron Holl Foundation has announced the application for this year’s summer architecture residency. Entitled Rural Compression: Cosmic Dust, this year’s topic intersects architecture, the ecology of the Hudson Valley, and astronomy. Through studios and critiques with accomplished architects, residents will produce designs for a center for observational cosmology in the Hudson Valley.</p>
<p>5 residents will be selected for this year’s program. Past residents have ranged from undergraduates and graduate students from Harvard, Columbia, Pratt and Sci Arc, as well as practicing architects and young professionals.</p>
