<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/a4/a47ac51231168405fe32a364c34af3dc.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p><a href="https://archinect.com/kwongvonglinow" target="_blank">Kwong Von Glinow</a>, the Chicago-based practice and <a href="https://archinect.com/news/bustler/6504/the-objective-winners-of-the-2018-architectural-league-prize-for-young-architects-designers" target="_blank">2018 Architectural League Prize winner</a>, recently completed an intriguing residential project in the northern section of their hometown. <br></p>
<p>The 3,100-square-foot Ardmore House reverses the conventional section of a three-story home by arranging the bedrooms on the first floor and the light-filled communal areas on the second.<br></p>

curved double-height atrium runs lengthwise from front to back doors,
creating an interior courtyard that vertically connects the common
areas on the first and second floors," explains the project description. "Defined by a large picture
window and a curving wall, the courtyard offers an informal
multi-purpose area where residents can relax and their children can
play."</p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/za/zatiy3r53m33pzx0.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>The US-based <a href="https://archinect.com/kwongvonglinow" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Kwong Von Glinow Design Office</a>, who have won a few competitions for their <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150001272/kwong-von-glinow-design-office-wins-new-york-affordable-housing-challenge" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">creative solutions to affordable housing</a>, have released a proposal for a temporary pavilion in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District Nursery Park. Titled the Primitive Pavilion, the project riffs on Marc-Antoine Laugier’s 18th-century idea of the “<a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/414086/primitive-hut" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">primitive hut</a>.”</p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/1b/1bo71jtjczt19729.tif?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>The Chicago Architecture Club named Lake Forest's <a href="http://www.kwongvonglinow.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Kwong Von Glinow Design Office</a> the recipient of the <a href="http://www.chicagoarchitecturalclub.org/2016-CHICAGO-PRIZE-COMPETITION-ON-THE-EDGE" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">2016 Chicago Prize</a>. This is a biennial prize given for the design of an international competition. This year's competition, titled <a href="http://archinect.com/news/article/149981531/send-your-ideas-to-the-2016-chicago-prize-on-the-edge-competition" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">On the Edge</a>, asked architects and designers to rethink Lake Shore Drive's connection to <a href="http://archinect.com/news/tag/4611/chicago" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Chicago</a>'s waterfront. Kwong Von Glinow Design Office's proposal, titled <em>Lattices on the Drive</em>, seeks to enhance the pedestrian's relationship to Lake Shore Drive. At each underpass which leads to the Lake, an access point at the media brings pedestrians up to a steel-frame viewing deck from which they can see the Lake, the city, and of course, Lake Shore Drive.
