<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/g5/g52v99fthg8ba45t.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p><a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/11330/houston" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Houston</a> recently gained a new music venue designed by <a href="http://schaumshieh.com/work/white-oak-need-title" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">SCHAUM/SHIEH</a>, a small architectural collaboration operating between Houston and New York. The White Oak Music Hall is part of a whole cluster of <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/8718/music" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">music</a> venues designed by the firm including The Lawn, and Raven Tower Pavilion. The Pavilion, a converted warehouse space, will soon be re-opened as the final stage in the overall music venue project. </p>

Image: Mark Torres/Houston Press.</figcaption></figure><p>The project is a seven-acre assemblage of new and adapted buildings, open-air structures, landscaped areas, and paved and decked surfaces along the Little White Oak Bayou. The White Oak Music Hall was completed last year and houses two performance halls with a 1200-person capacity. <br></p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/bc/bc11phaikwu5ummb.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>Built along the St. Lawrence river in the city of Trois-Rivières, Quebec, the Amphithéâtre Cogeco is a new performing arts venue by <a href="http://www.paullaurendeau.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Atelier Paul Laurendeau</a>, who won the competition to design the project in 2011. The project site was once occupied by a paper mill that shut down in the early 2000s, and the City of Trois-Rivières wanted a new recreational and cultural landmark in town.</p>

Atelier Paul Laurendeau designed the amphitheater at a monumental scale while maintaining a “light elegance” that makes the building inviting and open to all. <br></p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/2g/2gmeg1rjolhq4cze.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>OMA has moved one step closer to securing its first major public project in the UK: the Factory, a proposed £110M arts center for Manchester, was just given the go-ahead by city councillors. </p><p>On a site that once housed the Granada Studios, the Factory is intended to significantly boost Manchester’s cultural capital. It’s an integral part of a larger project, which received a pledge of £78M worth of public money back in 2014 and will provide some 2,400 new homes, three hotels, as well as a commercial space.</p><p><img title="" alt="" src="http://cdn.archinect.net/images/650x/av/avilkdt7fdwhsu2c.jpg"></p><p><img title="" alt="" src="http://cdn.archinect.net/images/650x/pl/pl43ex4ib9rzmyfi.jpg"></p><p>The 12,077 square meter Factory will comprise a massive, 7,000 capacity glass cube intended to house performances, experimental productions, and other cultural events.
