<p>We covered its <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/149976664/zaha-hadid-architects-to-design-new-stadium-for-the-forest-green-rovers" target="_blank">initial announcement</a> back in 2016, when it was marketed as the 'centerpiece' for the town's £100 million ($127.5 million USD) Eco Park development. The plan calls for 5,000 seats plus other key inclusions making it "the lowest embodied carbon of any stadium in the world."</p>
<p><a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/9343/hok" target="_blank">HOK</a>'s design for the <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150401378/hok-s-780-million-nycfc-stadium-plan-pushes-professional-sports-toward-an-all-electric-future" target="_blank">first all-electric soccer stadium</a>, Etihad Park in Queens, also recently <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150456892/hok-begins-construction-of-all-electric-etihad-park-soccer-stadium-in-queens" target="_blank">broke ground</a> in New York City.</p>

The announcement follows a seven month competition, with ZHA winning out over 50+ entries from around the world.</p><p>The stadium will be built almost entirely out of wood, which the Forest Green Rovers’ chairman, Dale Vince, asserts will make it have “the lowest embodied carbon of any stadium in the world”. Alongside a timber structure, roof, cantilevers and cladding, the stadium’s floor slab and seating terraces will be made of wood.
