Morphosis-designed conference center along Yangtze River opens in Nanjing Jiangbei New District, China

LA-based international architecture and design firm Morphosis has announced the completion and opening of the Yangtze River International Conference Center in Nanjing Jiangbei New District, an emerging epicenter for global business in China.

Commissioned by Jiangbei New District of Nanjing City, the conference center represents a flagship project for the new district. It hopes to embody a charter for sustainable and ecologically-sensitive development while creating a world-class meeting and event venue for the region.

The building borders the banks of the Yangtze River, the Jiangbei District, and the historic fabric of the Nanjing Metropolitan area. It simultaneously engages with its riverside site while hosting the future urban expansion of the region. The multi-use complex features a 36,000-square-meter (387,500-square-foot) conference space and is attached to a tower with a 340-room, four-star hotel that offers scenic views of the river....

MAD’s tent-like conference center breaks ground in China's rugged mountains

MAD Architects' new China Entrepreneur Forum Conference Centre has broken ground in the rugged, snow-capped mountains of Yabuli, located in northeastern China.

The new centre will act as a permanent venue for annual summits hosted by the China Entrepreneur Forum (CEF) in Yabuli. CEF commissioned MAD Architects, led by Ma Yansong, to design a building that embodied China's entrepreneurial industry.

Cited along the axis of a mountain, MAD designed a dynamic, tent-like structure defined by soft and sloping lines. The building reaches only 78 feet in height allowing the structure to quietly integrate into the surrounding landscape.

Katowice, a city of 300,000 inhabitants in the South of Poland, wants to leave its past of mining industry behind. In the heart of the city, and on what was formerly a mine and its inevitable mountains of mining residue, today we find there the new City Conference Centre: MCK ‐ International Conference Centre (ICC), designed by the most internationally known group in Poland, Jems Architecki.

The building, a unique block of 388,500m3, was erected (or submerged, depending how you look at it) in the new cultural area of the city, right next to the Spodek (saucer in English), the emblematic building of 1962, symbol of the city and which needed to be complemented in both aesthetics and in what it had to offer. Together they form Poland's largest Conference Centre.
