The France-based organization, named the <a href="https://www.kiloutou.com/group/en/press-releases/10-players-in-the-construction-and-public-works-sector-join-forces-to-form-the-community-of-sustainable-equipment-players/" target="_blank">Community of Sustainable Equipment Players</a> (CAMD), includes Bouygues Construction, Colas, Eiffage, Haulotte, JCB, Kiloutou, Manitou Group, NGE, Salti, and Volvo.</p> <p>The group has set out five key objectives for member companies. The group will aim to provide practical solutions and support cross-sector projects, build a knowledge base and a common <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/65656/net-zero" target="_blank">decarbonization</a> strategy, raise the profile of the materials sector and its role in the transition of the construction industry, defend the convictions of a sustainable industry, and foster a shared vision and ambition for decarbonizing the industry.</p> <figure><figure><a href="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/fb/fb81631c46ddf519a6a300416cda5bd9.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;enlarge=true&amp;w=1028" target="_blank"><img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/fb/fb81631c46ddf519a6a300416cda5bd9.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;enlarge=true&amp;w=514"></a><figcaption>Related on Archinect: <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150425430/federal-2007-ban-on-fossil-fuels-in-government-owned-buildings-finally-kicks-in" target="_blank">Federal 2007 ban on fossil fuels in government-owned buildings finally kicks in</a>. For those of you who aren&rsquo;t already familiar with Theaster, you&rsquo;re in for a treat. Theaster Gates often refers to himself as a potter, and while it&rsquo;s true that he is, through years of training and practice, he&rsquo;s also an extremely talented&nbsp;multidisciplinary artist, urban planner and community-focused social activist.&nbsp;</p> <p></p> <p>Theaster may be most well known for his non-profit <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/140357132/architecture-as-urban-regeneration-theaster-gates-art-practice-and-assemble" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Rebuild Foundation</a>. The foundation purchases abandoned buildings in the south side of Chicago, the neighborhood Theaster grew up and still resides in, and transforms them into beautiful community hubs that connect and inspire the local residents through art, creativity, and professional skill training.&nbsp;</p> <p>Gates work extends into academia as well. He is a full professor in the&nbsp;Department of Visual Arts at the <a href="https://archinect.com/schools/cover/4069531/the-university-of-chicago" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">University&nbsp;of Chicago</a>, where he is also a Senior Advisor for Cultural Innovation and Advisor to the Dean. I feel like I need a strategy for this next step so I don&rsquo;t get mired in the social activism and lose track of the art and architecture. It doesn&rsquo;t mean that activism isn&rsquo;t important, but it is a slippery slope to start advocating all the time instead of using my unique lens to focus on these issues.</p></em><br /><br /><p>Related on Archinect:</p><ul><li><a title="The Chicago Architecture Biennial prepares for round two in 2017 " href="http://archinect.com/news/article/145210767/the-chicago-architecture-biennial-prepares-for-round-two-in-2017" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The Chicago Architecture Biennial prepares for round two in 2017</a></li><li><a title="Zaha Hadid is not impressed by the Chicago Architecture Biennial" href="http://archinect.com/news/article/143437694/zaha-hadid-is-not-impressed-by-the-chicago-architecture-biennial" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Zaha Hadid is not impressed by the Chicago Architecture Biennial</a></li><li><a title='"Second Season, Second City" &ndash; A discussion of the Chicago Architecture Biennial with Cynthia Davidson of Log, on Archinect Sessions #41 ' href="http://archinect.com/news/article/140472862/second-season-second-city-a-discussion-of-the-chicago-architecture-biennial-with-cynthia-davidson-of-log-on-archinect-sessions-41" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">"Second Season, Second City" &ndash; A discussion of the Chicago Architecture Biennial with Cynthia Davidson of Log, on Archinect Sessions #41</a></li><li><a href="http://archinect.com/features/article/138573406/the-humanity-of-the-chicago-architecture-biennial" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The humanity of the Chicago Architecture Biennial</a></li><li><a href="http://archinect.com/forum/thread/138278659/what-s-the-matter-with-the-chicago-architecture-biennial" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">What's the matter with the Chicago Architecture Biennial?</a></li></ul><p><img title="" alt="" src="http://cdn.archinect.net/images/650x/9r/9r2xgkbxudibkc7h.jpg"></p><p>&uarr;&nbsp;<em>One of the abandoned houses Williams painted for the "Color(ed) Theory" project, exhibited in the 2015 Chicago Architecture Biennial.</em></p>
