The Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit [...] alleges "illegal and unconstitutional conduct" by the city "with respect to the house where Marilyn Monroe occasionally lived for a mere six months before she tragically committed suicide 61 years ago."</p></em><br /><br /><p>The <em>LA Times</em> (which has been <a href="https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/story/2024-01-22/owners-of-marilyn-monroes-home-fight-landmark-status-l-a-s-cultural-heritage-commission-votes-to-save-it" target="_blank">reporting on the story</a> since January of this year when the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission recommended landmark status for the former Monroe residence) <a href="https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-05-07/billionaires-sue-l-a-for-right-to-demolish-marilyn-monroes-house" target="_blank">writes</a> that the lawsuit was filed by billionaire heiress Brinah Milstein and her TV producer husband Roy Bank, who also own the home next door and purchased the contested mansion in 2023 with the intent to demolish it and merge both properties.</p>
<p>The preservation fight involving the Marilyn Monroe house follows the public uproar over the <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150424901/chris-pratt-and-katherine-schwarzenegger-demolish-craig-ellwood-s-1950-zimmerman-house-raising-ire-online" target="_blank">demolition of Craig Ellwood's 1950 Zimmerman House</a> in Los Angeles by its new owners, actor Chris Pratt and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, last month.<br></p>

The home had previously been listed by Compass and Sotheby’s for $12 million <a href="https://robbreport.com/shelter/homes-for-sale/eric-owen-moss-los-angeles-house-nicole-nagel-1235241857/" target="_blank">last fall</a> before being put up again for the lower price, held exclusively by the latter.</p>

It has appeared several times in various television shows (R.I.P. <em>Curb Your Enthusiasm</em>) and is distinctive of Moss’ warped style, which was later repeated in 2022’s <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150312501/eric-owen-moss-reveals-his-corner-bending-a-m-private-residence-in-the-pacific-palisades" target="_blank">A+M House</a>. A “comprehensive” series of upgrades and restorations has been performed since it was commissioned, according to <em>Robb Report</em>. </p>

Architect Ken Ungar, whose portfolio largely features high-end modern farmhouse-style residences, will design a home for the couple, Architectural Digest reported. When a house like this became available in 1967, Larson and Bridges were looking for something that exemplified their interests in all things artistic, it was very exciting for them to acquire. It was a trophy. It will be a trophy, probably, for the next owner.</p></em><br /><br /><p>The 1,200 square foot home, located in Brentwood Heights in Brentwood, Los Angeles, was designed and built in 1939, with a budget of $9,000 (adjusted for inflation, that would be roughly $153,671 today). It was the first Usonian house to be built.</p>
<p>The bidding is estimated to begin at $2.5 to $3 million.</p>
