Those who do not identify as either face a difficult choice at best, and often harassment or exclusion. Various <a href="http://archinect.com/news/article/140470448/toilets-for-everyone-the-politics-of-inclusive-design" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">institutions are experimenting with more gender-inclusive designs</a> and designations, but not without controversy.
