The 1000M project is a new high-rise accommodation meant to anchor the historic thoroughfare with 73 total stories and 738 units. </p>

The manipulation of air rights for this project allowed the design's floor plates to gradually expand at the northeast or southeast corners from a rectangular base into a more softened parallelogram form. <br></p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/65/659aeaff99d9a2b58147c10747c28e8c.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p><a href="https://archinect.com/gensler" target="_blank">Gensler</a> has unveiled plans for a major renovation of JPMorgan Chase’s 55-year-old Chicago headquarters in the <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/653007/south-loop" target="_blank">South Loop</a> that will transform the building into a new state-of-the-art workplace aimed at fostering collaboration and ushering the bank’s over 14,500 local employees into what the company calls the “future of work.”</p>
<p>The 60-story tower was originally designed by C.F. Murphy Associates and <a href="https://archinect.com/perkinswill" target="_blank">Perkins&Will</a> and currently is home to 7,200 workers. </p>

<p>According to the <em><a href="https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2024/2/7/24065603/new-white-sox-ballpark-south-loop-renderings-guaranteed-rate-field-soccer-stadium" target="_blank">Sun-Times</a></em>, Related Midwest is pushing for a “massive financing package” from the Illinois General Assembly to fund the project by the end of spring. If approved, the $9 billion <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/653007/south-loop" target="_blank">South Loop</a> ballpark project would be joined by 1,000 units of affordable housing in the “village” portion of the larger 62-acre site. The team’s current digs on the Southside would be transformed into a soccer stadium with another 1,300-unit housing component. An architect for the project is expected to be named later.</p>

The headquarters is expected to be the first building to begin construction at the development. Standing eight stories and spanning approximately 213,000 square feet, the scheme will feature office, classroom, lab, and event spaces for the University of Illinois System’s <a href="https://dpi.uillinois.edu/" target="_blank">Discovery Partners Institute (DPI)</a> and its partners.</p>

Pritzker announced on Thursday.</p>
<p>The multi-year project will transform a disused 62-acre former yard site as the first construction in the larger The 78 Innovation District that is meant to provide a high-tech connection between Chinatown to the South Loop.</p>
