What not to miss at this year's designjunction, the leading destination for design, arts and culture

Now in its seventh year, designjunction returns to Kings Cross this September (21-24) as part of the annual London Design Festival. The 2017 edition of the show will present more than 200 international design brands, hundreds of product launches, 70 tempting pop-up shops and bespoke installations, in addition to the schedule of lively talks and debates.

The show will take place across five key sites – all within a stone’s throw of each other, including the centrally located Granary Square (registration and installations), Cubitt House (lighting and furniture), Cubitt Park (emerging designers and materials), The Crossing (installations and partnership projects) and The Canopy (retail).

designjunction brings immersive design experiences and its first open-air party to King's Cross

designjunction (22 – 25 September) is set to transform its new home in King’s Cross into one destination full of immersive design concepts and stimulating experiences.

On Wednesday 21 September designjunction will host its first open-air party on Granary Square alongside headline partner Dezeen, and sponsored by EIZO. Expect street food from Real Food Festival, pop-up bars and live DJ sets from Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip and Adventures in Paradise.

Throughout the show, the centrally located Granary Square will be home to eight giant Monopoly-style houses, filled with conceptual installations, creative projects and live activities.

Presenting its SmartHouzz concept, Houzz will demonstrate how to maximise urban living space through smart design, smart use of space and smart technology. Leading high-end kitchen and bathroom manufacturer, Dornbracht, will create an immersive installation – the Dornbracht Water Experience.

designjunction is now in its sixth year – what did you originally set out to achieve with the exhibition? Has that changed?

At the time (back in 2011) when we launched designjunction, we felt London was missing a commercial show with more creative energy and a greater relevance to the A&D community. A place where you could business but in a more relaxed environment.

Our mission was simple, we wanted to break the mould of the traditional trade show by taking over ambitious locations on the brink of transformation in central London.

We wanted to present the best cutting-edge design within a carefully curated space, striking the perfect balance between creative and commercial.

Over the course of six years, we have built up a reputation for occupying some of the most ambitious and challenging spaces in London from a 40,000 sq ft disused sorting office to a derelict design school last year.

For the first time this May 13-15, the UK’s leading design exhibition designjunction and Dwell on Design, America’s largest design event, will partner during NYCxDESIGN. designjunction 2015 is happening soon on September 24-27! As part of the 2015 London Design Festival, designjunction will showcase nearly 200 cutting-edge international contemporary design brands inside The College and the Victoria House, located across each other along London's Southampton Row.

Visitors are guaranteed to find something that will catch their eye from the distinct range of designers and pop-up stores exhibiting this year.
