<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/68/68f4ba493efd0146d892cc96fe7dd7a0.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>An eclectic range of project types is represented in this year's <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/599135/riba-london-awards" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">RIBA London Awards</a> which were just announced by the Royal Institute of British Architects. <br></p>
<p>The 47 winning projects were selected from <a href="https://archinect.com/news/bustler/7166/take-a-look-at-the-buildings-shortlisted-for-the-2019-riba-london-awards" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">83 shortlisted projects</a> published in March and feature new work by some of the UK's heavy hitters, including Heatherwick Studio, David Chipperfield Architects, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, dRMM, and Grimshaw.</p>
<p>"2019 winning projects range from a one-bedroom private house which spans the length of two private garages to one of the busiest train stations in the country," commented RIBA London Director, Dian Small. "They also include several significant public sector housing projects, beautifully-designed school extensions, state of the art office buildings and exquisite conservation projects, which breathe new life into some of London’s greatest treasures."<br></p>

Starting out with 215 hopeful submissions, the jury picked 85 to advance in the regional competition, including projects designed by David Chipperfield, AHMM, WilkinsonEyre, Coffey Architects, Fletcher Priest Architects, Grimshaw, Haworth Tompkins, Zaha Hadid Architects, Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners, and many more notable contenders.</p><p>In the coming weeks, one of the five London juries working across the West, North, East, South East and South West areas of the city will visit all the shortlisted projects for further evaluation. In a statement by RIBA President Stephen Hodder, he noted that "the contribution to our profession from Jacques and Pierre is constantly profound." </p>

Starting from 159 entries down to a final shortlist of 67 projects, 38 projects won awards during a recent evening ceremony at the National Theatre. A few of the winners scored extra in receiving London Special Awards, including the RIBA London Building of the Year Award.</p><p>The regional London Awards are considered an honor, but they're just the start of a series of RIBA competitions. Regional winners will be considered for the RIBA National Award.
