<p>There's still time to register for <a href="https://www.youngarchitectscompetitions.com/" target="_blank">YAC - Young Architects Competitions’</a> latest contest <a href="https://www.youngarchitectscompetitions.com/open-competitions/ireland-mediation-mine" target="_blank">IRELAND MEDITATION MINE</a>, a competition of ideas aiming to recondition an Irish industrial archeological masterpiece into a meditation destination immersed in nature. </p>
<p>The cash prize of € 15,000 will be distributed to the winning proposals selected by an international jury panel composed of some of the most world-renowned architects, with the likes of, among others: Valerie Mulvin (<a href="https://mcculloughmulvin.com/" target="_blank">Mccullough Mulvin Architects</a>), Gong Dong (<a href="http://www.vectorarchitects.com/en/" target="_blank">Vector Architects</a>), Neil Hubbard (<a href="https://www.heatherwick.com/" target="_blank">Heatherwick Studio</a>), Rossana Hu (<a href="http://www.neriandhu.com/en" target="_blank">Neri & Hu</a>), and more.</p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/28/28bc1974959ce7207f96ee773af0ce38.jpeg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>Belgian architecture studio <a href="https://archinect.com/kgdvs" target="_blank">OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen (KGDVS)</a>, in collaboration with Jaspers-Eyers Architects, has won a competition to design a new headquarters for Flemish Radio and Television (VRT) in the future Media Park in <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/9825/brussels" target="_blank">Brussels</a>. The project is the result of a year-long competition, developed by a collective of firms dubbed VRT Morgen, which also includes: <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/150254740/bureau-bas-smets" target="_blank">Bureau Bas Smets</a>, Tractebel, CES, Ideal Acoustics, Willemen Construct, Jan De Nul Group, and EEG. </p>

Seven construction teams submitted proposals. The VRT Morgen team was awarded the contract with a maximum construction cost of approximately $159 million. </p>

The firm also picked up the award for Hotels and Leisure with the project. </p>
<p>Showcasing projects from around the world, this awards program celebrates excellence in unbuilt and incomplete projects. </p>
<p>A slew of notable firms were awarded in the competition. The Jeu d’Esprit award was won by <a href="https://archinect.com/openarch" target="_blank">OPEN Architecture</a> for their work on the Sun Tower in Yantai, China, and the Sustainability Prize was awarded to <a href="https://archinect.com/zaha-hadid" target="_blank">Zaha Hadid Architects</a> for their <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/149976664/zaha-hadid-architects-to-design-new-stadium-for-the-forest-green-rovers" target="_blank">Forest Green Rovers Eco Park Stadium</a> in Stroud, UK.</p>

This year's competition challenge students to reimagine airport mobility in the year 2100. Over 100 projects were submitted. The first-place prize is $15,000, second place $3,000, third place $2,000, and the two People's Choice Awards will receive $1,000.</p>
<p>"A deep passion for design and a creative mindset are the cornerstone of any successful design competition submission,” said Curtis Fentress, FAIA, RIBA, Principal in Charge of Design at Fentress Architects <a href="https://fentressglobalchallenge.com/news/2020/airport-of-the-future-global-student-design-competition-2020-winners-announced" target="_blank">in a statement.</a> “Each year, the submissions we receive are more innovative, spirited and dynamic than the prior year, which shows an exciting outlook for the future of terminal design. We’re greatly impressed by this year’s winners and every submission we received."</p>
